  • Documentation - Drafts, revises, and maintains legal forms and templates for lending and leasing projects.
  • Legal Support - Assists on matters affecting bank products, policies, procedures, standards, and operations.
  • Review - Reviews legal documentation to determine the nature of the request and necessary action.
  • Business Support - Assists management in daily operations and communicates handling of sensitive transactions.

Job description

Overview

This is a hybrid position that will sit in or near Jacksonville, Florida or Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

This position provides support for the Bank's in-house legal counsel. Addresses questions and concerns from clients, associates, vendors and management. Creates and maintains legal documentation. Reviews customer or vendor requested changes to lease and loan documents, where appropriate creates addenda, seeks guidance from attorneys on unusual or complex change requests. Compiles and analyzes documentation related to legal matters. Supports the continuous improvement of legal processes and capabilities to meet evolving business needs.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Documentation - Drafts, revises, and maintains legal forms and templates. Creates documentation for use in lending and leasing related projects as well as transaction or client-specific documentation. Drafts vendor program agreements with guidance from vendor onboarding on any special provisions in those agreements such as loss pools, residual or renewal sharing, pass through maintenance, etc.
  • Legal Support - Provides assistance on matters that impact Bank products, policies, procedures, standards, and operations. Reviews Legal processes and procedures. Responds to questions from associates on a wide array of issues including UCC matters, titling and security interests, powers of attorney, and trust documents. Provides research and assistance to litigation-related projects. Maintains flexibility in responding to evolving needs and business demands.
  • Review - Reviews legal documentation to determine the nature of the request and the necessary subsequent action.
  • Business Support - Performs a range of tasks to support management throughout daily operations. Effectively consults and communicates instructions on the handling of specific transactions or other sensitive matters.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years' experience OR High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent and 6 years' experience in Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Banking with specific emphasis on Lending, Operations, Compliance, Corporate Governance or Litigation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Creativity in responding to the needs of the business while protecting the bank.

  • Bankruptcy experience is helpful
