Job summary

Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP is seeking an experienced paralegal to join our Houston office. The role requires 3+ years in civil litigation, strong organization, and a solutions-focused mindset in a fast-paced, in-office environment.

The ideal candidate will assist attorneys with trial preparation, discovery, and records management, while handling medical/employment record summaries and draft meet-and-confer correspondence. A bachelor’s degree and ABA-approved paralegal certificate are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years paralegal experience in civil litigation.
• Familiarity with web-based legal research services.
• Experience with paperless filing; iManage a plus.
• Must pass background/drug screen.
• Bachelor’s degree and ABA-approved paralegal certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with the preparation of a civil case for trial
• Discovery and records management
• Summarize medical and employment records, create medical chronologies, summarize discovery responses, prepare meet and confer correspondence
• Motion writing experience, such as oppositions to motions including discovery motions, motions to continue trial
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints with minimal supervision and attention to detail

Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP is a nationally recognized Am Law 200 law firm with over 500 attorneys servicing clients in 40 offices and 22 states seeking an experienced paralegal to join our Houston office. Duties and Responsibilities

• Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate from ABA approved program required.
