Job summary

Kitch Attorneys & Counselors is seeking a paralegal with 2-3 years of experience in medical malpractice and litigation to support our defense-oriented practice. You will prepare affidavits, legal correspondence, organize files, and assist with trial prep and court filings in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook is required, and you should be comfortable multitasking and coordinating schedules with attorneys.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associate degree.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare affidavits, legal correspondence and other documents for attorneys.
  • Organize and maintain documents in filing systems.
  • Meet with clients and attorneys to discuss case details.

  • Schedule meetings and depositions and keep attorney calendars up-to-date.
  • Assist with trial prep by organizing exhibits and other tasks.
  • Coordinate medical expert reviews and gather relevant data.

Job description

Kitch Attorneys & Counselors is looking for motivated and hardworking individuals to join our defense-oriented firm as a Paralegal with 2-3 years of experience in Medical Malpractice and Litigation . Candidates will be supporting our practice by preparing documents like affidavits and legal correspondence, as well as organizing and maintaining files and attorney schedules. You will also be asked to file pleadings with court clerks and help prepare for trials by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel and willing to learn our document management system. You will also need to be able to multitask effectively and thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment. Strong time management and organization is a must.

Paralegal Responsibilities
  • Preparing affidavits, legal correspondence and other documents for attorneys
  • Organizing and maintaining documents in a paper or electronic filing system
  • Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to talk about case details
  • Filing pleadings with court clerk
  • Schedule meetings and depositions, keeping attorney schedules efficient and up-to-date
  • Helping prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed
  • Contact and coordination of medical expert reviews
  • Investigating facts and laws of cases and searching public records and other resources to prepare cases and determine causes of action
  • Directing and coordinating law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas
  • Gathering and analyzing statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, documents and other data
  • Calling on witnesses to testify at hearings
  • Keeping law library up-to-date by monitoring legal volumes
Paralegal Requirements
  • Minimum of Associate degree
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment
