Job summary

Butler Weihmuller Katz Craig LLP in Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking an Insurance Defense Paralegal with 7+ years of experience for our office. The role covers First Party Property and Third Party Property Insurance Defense, plus extra-contractual and liability background.

You will draft and review legal documents, organize case materials, assist at depositions and trials, and work with CM/ECF, Summation or Eclipse while maintaining accurate timekeeping and billing.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of paralegal experience in insurance defense.
• Experience with Federal Court CM/ECF filings.
• Proficient in preparing pleadings, subpoenas, discovery requests and responses.
• Experience with trial preparation and witness preparation a plus.
• Strong timekeeping and billing discipline.

Job description

Law Firm seeking an Insurance Defense Paralegal with 7+ years’ of experience for our Charlotte, North Carolina office – First Party Property and Third Party Property Insurance Defense, Extra Contractual and Liability background required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Draft routine or complex legal documents for review by attorneys.
• Review, organize, and summarize reports and other case materials.
• Draft pleadings, subpoenas, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, interrogatories/answers, other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and investigations as needed.
• Assist in deposition preparation, pre-trial investigations, trial preparation, including assistance with preparation of witnesses for deposition and/or trial.
• Prepare exhibits and other demonstrative evidence for use at trial.
• Provide assistance at trial.
• Experience and knowledge of the Federal Court CM/ECF system and filings.
• Experienced with use of Summation or Eclipse.
• Ability to properly capture time and bill according to guidelines.
• Provide Support on claim demands/packets to third parties

Must be an experienced timekeeper committed to a minimum of 125 billable hours per month. Trial experience preferred.
