Job summary

Burnett Specialists Staffing | Recruiting is assisting a well-established Charlotte plaintiff's personal injury law firm in finding an experienced Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal. The role supports attorneys from intake through settlement or trial, with emphasis on organization, communication, and proactive case management.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of plaintiff PI litigation paralegal experience, NC procedures knowledge, and strong drafting and discovery skills.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of plaintiff personal injury litigation paralegal experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of North Carolina civil litigation procedures and court rules preferred.
  • Experience handling cases through discovery, depositions, mediation, and trial preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of personal injury claims, medical records, damages, insurance claims, and settlement processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently manage case deadlines and prioritize a substantial caseload.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
  • Paralegal certificate or relevant education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage plaintiff personal injury cases throughout the full litigation life cycle, from case development through settlement or trial.
  • Assist attorneys with preparation and filing of complaints, answers, motions, discovery, pleadings, and other litigation documents.
  • Draft and coordinate interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, subpoenas, and discovery responses.
  • Obtain, organize, and summarize medical records, medical bills, employment records, insurance information, and other damages documentation.
  • Prepare detailed medical chronologies, damages summaries, case timelines, and trial materials.
  • Coordinate and assist with depositions, including scheduling, notices, exhibits, and preparation of attorneys and witnesses.
  • Maintain case calendars and monitor court deadlines, discovery deadlines, depositions, hearings, mediation, and trial dates.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, medical providers, insurance representatives, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties.
  • Assist attorneys with mediation and settlement preparation, including demand packages, settlement documentation, liens, and closing statements.
  • Prepare trial exhibits, witness files, exhibit lists, trial notebooks, and other materials.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation and, when needed, provide support during hearings and trials.
  • Maintain organized and accurate electronic case files and ensure all case-related documentation is up to date.
  • Handle multiple cases and competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and client service.
