Job summary

Clare-Gladwin RESD is seeking a Paraeducator – Speech Facilitator to assist the virtual Speech and Language Pathologist and itinerant staff in supporting instruction across multiple sites within the RESD.

This school-year position follows the district calendar with a starting wage per the MEA contract of $14.37 per hour, or higher based on experience. Opportunities to contribute to student progress and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required; two years college preferred.
• First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Work experience with individuals with developmental, emotional, physical and cognitive impairments preferred.
• Working knowledge of training techniques, behavior modification, and task analysis. Proven exercise in reasonable judgment in handling challenges until supervisory back-up is provided.
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with students, parents, community, peers.
• Ability to understand and work with children of all ages.
• Must be familiar with the terminology and provisions of the American Disabilities Act (ADA).

Responsibilities

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Speech Facilitator is responsible for assisting the virtual Speech and Language Pathologist, Itinerant staff and others in the support of instruction. The Speech Facilitator may be assigned to one virtual Speech and Language Pathologist or to a variety of assignments depending on the needs of the students and the virtual Speech and Language Pathologist.
