Job summary

Highland Middle School in Mead School District, Spokane, is seeking a paraeducator to assist a certificated teacher with instructional and non-instructional activities for students. You will tutor students, monitor behavior, prepare materials, and help maintain safety and order throughout the building.

Typical schedule is 6.6 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with specific start times: 7:30–2:45 on M,T,TH,F and 8:15–2:45 on Wednesdays. Requires a high school diploma and current first aid/CPR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current first aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain promptly.
• Para educators shall be required to be highly qualified on hire into a continuing position per state law.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic student supervision and ensure general building-wide behavioral expectations.
• Assist in maintaining safety, behavior, decorum, and order in common areas.
• Provide instructional support and assist in teaching and learning as needed in various group sizes.
• Assist teachers with duties related to instruction such as observing, recording data, and classroom preparation.
• Follow plans and procedures directed by administration or certificated staff.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
