Edmonds School District in Lynnwood, WA seeks a Paraeducator Level I to support instructional activities and supervise students, working with certificated staff in classrooms.

This non-continuing position pays an hourly rate of $29.61 to $33.52 and requires 18+ years old with a high school diploma plus one of several credential paths. Eligible employees may access SEBB health benefits and the state retirement plan.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must meet one of the following: an associate degree or higher, 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher, completion of an apprenticeship, or PESB approved assessments.
• Possession of First Aid and CPR Certifications or willingness to acquire; de‑escalation and physical restraint training is required for employees in self-contained classrooms.
• Successful candidates must complete mandatory in-person training prior to start date.

• Work collaboratively with certificated staff in classrooms or learning environments, assist with instructional support and supervision, and monitor student progress and safety.
• Prepare educational materials and perform routine clerical tasks to support teachers and district staff.

Position Information:
Works collaboratively with certificated staff in classrooms or other learning environments, assists with a variety of instructional support and student supervision duties; prepares educational materials; monitors students' progress, behavior, and safety. Performs routine clerical tasks to support teachers and other district staff.
Shift Details:2.0 hours a day; 181day calendar
Non-Continuing Position:This position is non-continuing for the2026-2027school year only. Typically, non-continuing assignments fill a variety of temporary vacancies to help the school district meet a short-term work demand. This work assignment expires on the end date of employment and there is no reasonable assurance for work after the end date. An employee's total work hours and the designated beginning and ending times may vary.

Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent
• In addition, a paraeducator must meet one of the following:

1. Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
2. Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university
3. Completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council
4. Received a passing score on one of the following PESB approved assessments:

• ParaPathways Assessment
• Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment
• Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program

Licenses/Special Requirements:

• Possession of valid First Aid and CPR Certifications or willingness to acquire depending on job assignment.
• Certification of de-escalation and physical restraint training is required for all employees who work in a self-contained classroom.

* * Successful candidates are required to complete mandatory, in-person training/orientation prior to their official start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with students in an educational setting and/or evidence of an interest in supporting learning experiences.
• Training with cultural, ethnic and language diversity.

The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) provides access to health care services. Our benefits are provided to eligible positions through SEBB (School Employees Benefits Board). Eligibility for SEBB state health insurance coverage is determined by working 630 hours during the school year.

Eligibility for a state retirement plan through the Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) is determined upon hire and is based on a variety of factors.
