Job summary

Edmonds School District is seeking a Paraeducator Level I to support instructional activities and supervise students in classrooms or learning environments. You will assist teachers, prepare materials and help monitor student progress, behavior and safety, while also performing routine clerical tasks for the district.

The position is non-continuing for the 2026-2027 school year, features a 6.0-hour day within an 181-day calendar, and pays $29.61 to $33.52 per hour under the Classified Support

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess one of the listed education options (associate degree or credits, apprenticeship, or PESB assessments).

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with certificated staff in classrooms or learning environments.
• Assist with instructional support and student supervision duties; prepare educational materials.
• Monitor students' progress, behavior and safety; perform routine clerical tasks to support teachers and staff.

Position Information

Non-Continuing Position

This position is non-continuing for the2026-2027school year only. Typically, non-continuing assignments fill a variety of temporary vacancies to help the school district meet a short-term work demand. This work assignment expires on the end date of employment and there is no reasonable assurance for work after the end date. An employee's total work hours and the designated beginning and ending times may vary.

Education and Experience

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent
• In addition, a paraeducator must meet one of the following:

• 1. Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• 2. Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university
• 3. Completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council
• 4. Received a passing score on one of the following PESB approved assessments:

• ParaPathways Assessment
• Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment
• Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program

Licenses/Special Requirements

• Possession of valid First Aid and CPR Certifications or willingness to acquire depending on job assignment.
• Certification of de-escalation and physical restraint training is required for all employees who work in a self-contained classroom.

* * Successful candidates are required to complete mandatory, in-person training/orientation prior to their official start date.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with students in an educational setting and/or evidence of an interest in supporting learning experiences.
• Training with cultural, ethnic and language diversity.
