• Current First Aid and CPR certifications or willingness to acquire; de-escalation and physical restraint training required for self-contained classrooms.

Position Information:
Works collaboratively with certificated staff in classrooms or other learning environments, assists with a variety of instructional support and student supervision duties; prepares educational materials; monitors students' progress, behavior, and safety. Performs routine clerical tasks to support teachers and other district staff.
Shift Details: 3.0 hours per day; 181 day calendar
Continuing Position: Employees have reasonable assurance of continued employment to the following school year. However, an employee's total work hours, work locations, and the designated beginning and ending times may vary.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate: $29.61 to $33.52 (hourly) (2026-27 Classified Support Staff Salary Schedule)

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience:

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent
• In addition, a paraeducator must meet one of the following:
• 1. Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• 2. Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university
• 3. Completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council
• 4. Received a passing score on one of the following PESB approved assessments:
  • ParaPathways Assessment
  • Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment
  • Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program

Licenses/Special Requirements:

• Possession of valid First Aid and CPR Certifications or willingness to acquire depending on job assignment.
• Certification of de-escalation and physical restraint training is required for all employees who work in a self-contained classroom.

Successful candidates are required to complete mandatory, in-person training/orientation prior to their official start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with students in an educational setting and/or evidence of an interest in supporting learning experiences.
• Training with cultural, ethnic and language diversity.

Benefits: The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) provides access to health care services. Our benefits are provided to eligible positions through SEBB (School Employees Benefits Board). Eligibility for SEBB state health insurance coverage is determined by working 630 hours during the school year.

Eligibility for a state retirement plan through the Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) is determined upon hire and is based on a variety of factors.
