Job summary

Naugatuck Public Schools is seeking a Para-Educator to work under a certified teacher, providing one-on-one or small-group support to students and helping maintain materials and records. The role reinforces instruction as directed by the teacher and assists across general classroom activities.

The position involves preparing classrooms, supporting various subjects, participating in meetings as needed, and assisting with transportation and health-related tasks while maintaining confidentiality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Warm and supportive personality; ability to relate to special needs students.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Prior experience in a school setting preferred.
• Must meet highly qualified requirements: 2 years college (48 credits) or an Associate's degree or ParaPro score.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing classrooms for the school year.
• Support students one-on-one or in small groups.
• Reinforce daily lessons as directed by the teacher.
• Maintain student materials, records and equipment.
• Assist with transportation duties as assigned.
• Attend PPT/IEP meetings when required.
• Support special area classes and field trips.
• Uphold behavior modification plans and classroom rules.
• Support health and daily care needs as appropriate.
