Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 college credits or qualify on ParaPro assessment.
• Ability to lift and assist with children weighing 10–60 pounds and engage in activities requiring physical effort.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in establishing and maintaining a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Consult with teacher on plans and curriculum activities.
• Assist the teacher in preparing and maintaining classroom materials and supplies.
• Participate in all planned school activities and staff meetings.
• Observe each child's strengths and needs and help set individual goals.
• Support the classroom environment to respect diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
• Assist planning, implementing and documenting activities in developmental areas: physical, emotional, cognitive, social.
• Work with the teacher to provide experiences that enhance each child's self-concept.
• Attend all parent meetings and encourage parent involvement.
• Provide for students' physical needs as required.
