Job summary

Enfield Public Schools is seeking a Substitute Paraeducator to support special education students and assist teachers with implementing IEPs. The role emphasizes supervision, instructional support, behavior reinforcement, and maintaining student dignity and safety in a diverse learning environment.

Position is part-time with duties including classroom assistance, personal care in some cases, and collaboration with PPT teams.

Qualifications

Earned a secondary school diploma, or its equivalent.
Must meet one of the following: two years of higher education; or an Associate's Degree or higher; or ParaPathways Assessment.
Ability to work well with others in a cooperative manner.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Assists teacher with development and presentation of learning materials.
Assists supervision of students during drills, assemblies, and similar activities.
Corrects papers and supervises testing and makeup work.
Maintains ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
Confers regularly with the teacher regarding student progress.
Reinforces behavior modification plans and supports as prescribed.
Attends PPT meetings as required.
Introduces and reinforces concepts and lessons to students.
Constructs, distributes, and utilizes educational materials.
Performs toileting, hygiene, and personal care duties as required to support student needs.
