Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Cottonton, AL seeks a Process Engineer to support the Mahrt mill's paperboard production processes. You will monitor, investigate, and improve quality, quantity, and cost of manufacturing operations.

The role reports to the Process Engineer Manager and involves participation in process improvement teams, capital projects, and safety initiatives with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Science.
• Minimum 2 years of industry experience in paper machine or pulp mill area; process eng role preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide management with information on quality and operating parameters to assist in process control, budgeting, and trend detection.
• Participate on process improvement teams to identify problems, evaluate solutions, and implement changes to improve quality, cost, and throughput.
• Complete projects and development activities to prepare for operation positions as vacancies occur.
• Participate in all process engineering aspects of capital projects.
• Actively promote safety and environmental compliance.
