Job summary

Westrock Company, Inc. Roanoke Rapids mill seeks a Production Supervisor to lead the Paper and Shipping operations. You will oversee two paper machines and related logistics, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time production in a fast-paced plant environment.

The role requires strong leadership, 1–2 years of supervisory experience, and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts. Union experience is a plus, and dedication to process improvement is essential.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or related field preferred; will consider candidate with equivalent on the job experience.
• Prefer 3 to 8 years’ experience in Paper Manufacturing.
• Preferred 1–2 years of supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills and a proven track record of improving employee engagement.
• Previous work experience in a unionized location is preferred.
• Ability to work rotating shift (12-hour shifts, switching from nights to days, 3 and 4 day on/off combinations and one 7-day off period per month).

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline leadership of daily operation for 2 containerboard/Kraft paper machines and shipping/logistics.
• Promote safety engagement and maintain safe work practices.
• Ensure environmental compliance and quality specifications are followed.
• Manage crews and equipment to maximize reliability and efficiency; troubleshoot issues.
• Provide leadership and coaching to rotating shift operational crews in Paper and Shipping Departments.
• Coordinate training to maximize operator proficiencies.
• Support safety, environmental, and quality incident investigations.
• Communicate production information to appropriate personnel.
• Direct shift maintenance resources and support machine outages.
• Maintain housekeeping in all areas.
