Job summary

WestRock Company in Roanoke Rapids, NC, is seeking a Paper Mill Manager to oversee the Paper and Shipping Departments, including two Paper Machines. You will drive safety, environmental stewardship, quality, and cost control while guiding production planning and maintenance activities.

The role requires a B.S. degree and 5+ years in paper mill operations (or equivalent) with proven leadership, strong communication, and the ability to work across teams to improve productivity and profitability.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree with 5+ years of Paper Mill experience or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of mill-wide operations and interdependency.
• Clear communication across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to define objectives and involve others in achieving them.
• Commitment to continuous improvement with emphasis on safety, quality, environment, production and cost.
• Strong leadership with interpersonal skills, customer service, communication and high sense of urgency.
• Team leadership and team participation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
• Knowledge of Box Plant Corrugator operations and DCS familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety systems and processes to achieve annual safety goals and foster a safe, engaged workforce.
• Lead department environmental management for compliance and stewardship.
• Focus on quality and customer satisfaction with no-fail basics while driving innovation.
• Develop and maintain cost-tracking methods to reduce chemical and operational costs.
• Optimize paper machine schedules to maximize production and uptime while reducing off-quality.
• Collaborate with Mill Controller to develop budgets and analyze financial results for profitability.
• Provide input to capital projects from inception to completion.
• Initiate and facilitate improvement projects focusing on cost reduction, productivity, and quality.
• Invest in people development and maintain positive employee relations.
