Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in the United States seeks a Paper Machine Assistant Superintendent to lead safety, quality, and efficiency on the paper machine. You will direct maintenance coordination, support process engineering, train operators, and manage union crews while driving continuous improvement.

You will partner with the Paper Mill Manager, plan outages, oversee capital projects, and monitor costs across chemicals, maintenance, and equipment.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or equitant Paper Machine Supervisory experience.
• 10+ years of machine level supervisory experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills required.
• Strong organizational skills and acumen for analytical tools to provide direction to Process Engineer.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Computer skills/ability to develop proficiency is mandatory.
• Respond to machine issues afterhours, weekends, holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Manages paper machine engineering support team members, Paper Machine Operations Maintenance Coordinator, and Paper Machine Crews.
• Directs and supervises the work of contract employees on floor level activities.
• Provides assistance to cross-functional project teams as assigned by the Paper Machine Manager.
• Manage and maintain operations within allocated performance metrics and floor level budget metrics.
• Coordinate with planning on machine schedules and grade structure.
