Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking an experienced Paper Machine Superintendent to lead safety, environmental and production performance at our Paper Mill. You will direct an operations team, coordinate with maintenance and engineering, and drive improvements in productivity, quality and costs.

The role requires a BS in Engineering or equivalent supervisory experience, strong leadership and problem-solving skills, and a track record of managing complex paper machine operations.

Qualifications

• A BS degree in Engineering or equivalent Paper Machine Supervisory experience.
• 10+ years of Machine Level Supervisory Experience is preferred.
• Strong trouble shooting and decision-making skills required.
• Strong organizational skills and acumen for analytical tools to provide direction to Process Engineer.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Computer skills /ability to develop a proficiency is mandatory.
• Respond to machine issues afterhours, weekends, holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Paper Machine safety, environmental and product quality initiatives to optimize performance and efficiency.
• Lead the floor-level safety culture and ensure proper maintenance planning and outages.
• Drive continuous improvement, capital projects, and cost reduction initiatives for the paper machine.
• Oversee supervision of paper mill crews and coordinate with maintenance and engineering support.
• Develop workforce capabilities through coaching and training and manage cross-functional teams.
