Job summary

International Paper in Selma, AL seeks an Additives Technical Assistant – Paper to support the Paper Machine operations with emphasis on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement. The role acts as a key resource to the Paper Area Manager across operations, maintenance, and technical activities.

You will help build consistent practices, train operators, and drive cost-effective improvements while coordinating with other departments to meet quality targets and manage budgets.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience in Paper Machines Operations.
• Minimum five years of management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Demonstrated safety commitment and results.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and environmental results for the additives areas.
• Develop operating practices across all shifts.
• Develop Operator engagement through training and empowerment.
• Direct and lead the Paper Machine Crew Leaders with clear expectations.
• Investigate, resolve, and implement process improvements.
• Interface with other departments to ensure quality parameters are met.
• Provide operational support for reliability efforts and capital needs.
• Support project management and outage activities as needed.
• Manage area costs and meet budget.
