Job summary

NEBCO, Inc. (Plains Pozzolanic affiliate) seeks a Plant Operations and Maintenance Lead for the GGS power plant in Sutherland. You will supervise maintenance personnel, perform preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting for fleet and plant equipment, and ensure work is completed safely and on schedule.

Background check and pre-employment physical with drug testing and back screening are required. Hours are generally 6 am–6 pm, 40–50 hours weekly, with occasional weekends.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; and 1 year mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License; insurable under company program.
  • Ability to lift 50-75 pounds and work independently.

Position Summary

The Plant Operations and Maintenance Lead oversees and performs preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting for fleet and plant equipment at Power Plant in Sutherland. Performs multiple tasks and fills in as directed or as needed while maintaining a high degree of attention to details. Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. The position will be located at the GGS power plant which requires the applicant to pass a background check plus a pre-employment physical with drug testing and back screening.Must be able to work normal day hours, generally between 6 am to 6 pm, averaging 40 to 50 hours a week, hours may vary depending on load or ash disposal needs; must be able to work occasional Saturday and Sunday when required. Reliable attendance required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

include, but are not limited to, the following:

Supervises maintenance personnel; provides guidance and training as needed.

Discusses and communicates with General Manager, Plant Operations and Admin Lead, and other personnel as needed, of potential problems, status, and timeline of projects.

Assures work is completed timely and safely. Supports other departments according to needs as directed.

Implements and maintains a preventative maintenance program to anticipate and check, lube and record all fleet and plant equipment.

Oversees, delegates, and/or performs scheduled maintenance on all equipment safely, completes maintenance and repair logs.

Oversees, delegates, and/or performs basic repair, service and related work on all production equipment Including but not limited to loaders, graders, trucks, trailers, conveyors, car movers and dust collecting equipment.

Operates and ensures safe operations of equipment such as, but not limited to, trucks, blades, loaders, conveyors, car movers, torches and welders.

Uses various hand tools and test equipment periodically to analyze, evaluate and correct malfunctions with various systems, devices and/or instruments; ensures small power tools are in proper working order.

Ensures and performs daily checks on brakes, tires, springs, engine oil, etc.

Ensures maintenance, such as greasing, oil changes, tire changes, and other needed maintenance is completed as required.

Keeps inventory and reports to appropriate personnel of parts and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance of fleet and equipment.

Keeps a well-maintained shop.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
  • 1-year previous mechanical experience performing maintenance and repairs on vehicles or equipment; or
  • an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Driver’s License and be insurable under the company insurance program.

Other Qualifications:

  • Must have basic equipment maintenance and repair experience.
  • Ability to oversee and train other personnel.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to work independently and have a good sense of detail to work and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions.
  • Must be able to delegate tasks to others and work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents related to the job, such as scale tickets, SDS sheets, equipment manuals and the company safety manual.
  • Basic computer skills required.
