Job summary

Alta Equipment Group is seeking a detail‑oriented Pallet Rack Engineer with strong CAD expertise to design safe, efficient warehouse storage systems. You will lead structural design and layouts for complex material handling environments, turning operational needs into precise technical drawings.

Key tasks include CAD design (AutoCAD/SolidWorks), load calculations, safety/compliance reviews, permit packets, and collaboration with sales, PMs, and installation crews to meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Mechanical Eng or Supply Chain.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel ~75% in the region.
• Working knowledge of warehouse solutions and racking systems.

Responsibilities

• CAD Design & Modeling: Create detailed 2D layouts and 3D models of racking systems using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or specialized rack design software.
• Structural Engineering: Calculate weight loads, seismic forces, stress tolerances, and overall structural stability for pallet rack systems.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure designs strictly comply with Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI) standards, local building codes, and AISI specifications.
• Permitting Support: Prepare complete engineering calculation packets and technical drawings for building permit submissions.
• Project Collaboration: Work closely with sales, project managers, and installation crews to refine designs based on specific warehouse constraints and customer requirements.
• Quality Assurance: Review and approve manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and layout configurations prior to production.
