Job summary

Alta Equipment Group is seeking a detail-oriented Pallet Rack Engineer with strong CAD expertise to design safe, efficient, and compliant warehouse storage systems. You will lead structural design and engineering layouts, turning operational needs into precise drawings and calculating load capacities to meet structural codes.

The role requires collaboration with sales, project managers, and installation crews, with travel up to 75% within the region.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in CRM tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the assigned region (approximately 75% travel).

Responsibilities

CAD Design & Modeling: Create detailed 2D layouts and 3D models of racking systems using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or specialized rack design software.
Structural Engineering: Calculate weight loads, seismic forces, stress tolerances, and overall structural stability for pallet rack systems.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure designs strictly comply with Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI) standards, local building codes, and AISI specifications.
Permitting Support: Prepare complete engineering calculation packets and technical drawings for building permit submissions.
Project Collaboration: Work closely with sales, project managers, and installation crews to refine designs based on specific warehouse constraints and customer requirements.
Quality Assurance: Review and approve manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and layout configurations prior to production.
