Job Description - Painter - Monroe (2504329)

Job Purpose: Paint walls, equipment, buildings, and other structural surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. May remove old paint to prepare surfaces prior to painting.

Essential Job Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
  • Apply paint to structures using brushes, rollers, or spray guns
  • Protect surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper during painting
  • Fill cracks, holes, and joints with appropriate fillers
  • Remove fixtures such as doorknobs and switch covers before painting
  • Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, and wire brushing
  • Smooth surfaces with sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, and steel wool
  • Set up scaffolding or ladders for above-ground work
  • Assist with surveys and reports as needed
  • Participate in ongoing educational programs to stay current in the field
  • Attend mandatory in-services
  • Respect patients'/residents' rights and follow compliance and safety regulations
  • Report hazards and follow safety procedures when using equipment
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor
Qualifications:

Licensure, Certification, Experience, and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some overnight travel may be required
  • Ability to perform repetitive finger, hand, and wrist movements
  • Steady hand and arm for detailed work
  • Proper use of tools and equipment

  • Follow safety standards and demonstrate good workmanship
  • Ability to work effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and the public
