Job summary

Medxcel in Appleton, WI, is seeking a skilled maintenance painter for St. Elizabeth Hospital. This full-time day-shift role focuses on applying protective coatings to interior and exterior surfaces, preparing surfaces, and maintaining drywall and wall coverings.

You will operate paint equipment, inspect quality, and collaborate with the Facilities team to support special projects and safety standards. Ideal candidates have trade school education and several years of painting experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of trade school and 3 years’ relevant experience.
  • 5 years’ relevant experience or other equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Apply protective and decorative coatings (paint, varnish, lacquer) to interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Prepare surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, or smoothing; install, repair and maintain drywall, wall texturing, and vinyl/acoustic wall coverings.
  • Safely operate and maintain equipment including compressors, striping machines, sandblasters, spray equipment, and heavy lift equipment (scissors/boom up to 80 feet).
  • Erect scaffolding, staging, ladders, and planks; create and apply graphics and signage layouts in compliance with DOT, Safety, and ADA requirements.
  • Contribute to special projects; assist with tasks and provide training to team members in basic paint trade practices.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for applying protective and decorative coatings (paint, varnish, lacquer) to interior and exterior surfaces. This includes preparing surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, or smoothing, as well as installing, repairing, and maintaining drywall, wall texturing, and vinyl/acoustic wall coverings.
  • Maintains existing paint surfaces by matching/tinting paint products, inspects the quality of all applications to ensure customer satisfaction, and determines appropriate colors through customer consultation.
  • Safely operates and maintains various equipment, including compressors, striping machines, sandblasters, spray equipment, and heavy lift equipment (scissors/boom stage up to 80 feet). This also involves following Standard Precautions, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and properly disposing of hazardous materials.
  • Erects scaffolding, staging, ladders, and planks as needed. Also creates and applies graphics and signage layouts, ensuring compliance with DOT, Safety, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
  • Dedicates a portion of time to special projects, including assisting with assigned tasks, providing additional support and training to team members in basic paint trade practices, and participating in meetings, workshops, and training.
