Job summary

Sumitomo Machinery Corp of America is seeking a Painter II (Maintenance) to prepare and coat products. The role requires preparing surfaces, applying coatings, and maintaining spray equipment in a heavy industrial setting.

The position requires a High School Diploma and at least 3 years of industrial painting experience, including HVLP spray work. Benefits are provided; base hourly pay is aligned with experience and certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and prepare assembled products for coating application.
  • Apply various coatings of paint to finished products as specified.
  • Mix standard paint colors and thinners to obtain proper viscosity; adjust as necessary.
  • Operate paint spray equipment to apply paint coatings.
  • Maintain spray paint equipment in proper working condition.
  • Replace nozzles and other gun components.
  • Flush and clean paint system circulation and filtering lines and components.
  • Replenish painting supply as necessary.
  • Prepare units for final shipment.
  • Operate forklift and crane to move products.

The base hourly range for this role is $19.66- $24.56.

Final salary offers are determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, specialized skills, and certifications.

Purpose and Scope of Job

Prepare and clean assembled products for coating application and apply coatings.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)
  • Clean and prepare assembled products for coating application.
  • Apply various coatings of paint to finished products as specified.
  • Mix standard paint colors and thinners to obtain proper viscosity; adjust as necessary.
  • Operate paint spray equipment to apply paint coatings.
  • Maintain spray paint equipment in proper working condition.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of painting experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Previous high volume, low pressure (HVLP) industrial spray application experience.
  • Any additional essential skills and/or knowledge as shown in the HRIS Career & Education > Skills section for incumbents holding this job title.
Work Conditions & Physical Environment

Duties are performed in an industrial environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; twist; bend; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee must constantly lift, carry, move, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
