Job summary

Medxcel is hiring a painter for the Facilities team at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. The role focuses on applying protective and decorative coatings, surface preparation, and maintaining paint finishes on interior and exterior surfaces.

You will operate painting and power equipment, erect scaffolding as needed, and ensure DOT/ADA compliance and safety. This is a full-time, second-shift position with development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of trade school or equivalent.
  • 1+ year relevant painting experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Apply protective and decorative coats to interior and exterior surfaces and prepare surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding and tinting.
  • Install, repair, and maintain drywall, wall texturing, vinyl coverings, and ceiling textures.
  • Operate and maintain painting and power equipment (compressors, spray equipment, sandblasters, boom lift) and handle hazardous materials safely.
  • Erect scaffolding and ensure compliance with DOT, ADA, and Standard Precautions.
  • Communicate work order status, participate in meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the application of protective and decorative coats (paint, varnish, lacquer) to all interior and exterior surfaces and property, including preparing surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding and maintaining existing paint through matching and tinting.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains drywall, wall texturing, vinyl wall coverings, and ceiling acoustic texturing.
  • Operates and maintains various painting and power equipment, including compressors, spray equipment, sandblasters, and heavy lift equipment (scissors/boom stage up to 80 feet), and safely handles and disposes of hazardous materials while following Standard Precautions using required personal protective equipment.
  • Erects scaffolding and staging as necessary to reach work surfaces, and creates and applies graphics/signage layouts to comply with DOT, Safety, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
  • Communicates with personnel on work order status and procedures for decision-making and compliance, supports Special Projects, participates in assigned meetings, workshops, and training, and completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of trade school or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1+ year relevant experience, or other equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.
