Position Summary

For over 35 years, North Hill, a not-for-profit senior living community located in Needham, Massachusetts, has provided vibrant living opportunities to people 65+ by offering a host of hospitality, wellness, and health care services. This position is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of painting of the buildings, including erecting staging and installing sheet rock as required. The role also involves assisting with other maintenance responsibilities as directed.

Job Specific Duties

1. Removes paint, fills cracks and holes, smooths wall and wood surfaces, and prepares for brush or spray painting.
2. Prepares and mixes paints, stains, sealants, etc., and applies to surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray painting equipment.
3. Erects staging and positions ladders as necessary for painting ceilings and other elevated surfaces.
4. Installs sheet rock, tapes seams, applies joint compounds, sands, and prepares surfaces for wall coverings; moves, protects, and replaces furniture in resident apartments and other locations.
5. Performs routine maintenance and repair on equipment and the campus.
6. Performs plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical repairs, and leak repairs; clears roof surfaces of debris, and performs related duties.
7. Assists with snow removal operations.
8. Performs general maintenance duties as required.
9. Maintains inventory system.
10. Performs preventive maintenance audits as directed.
11. Provides security functions in the absence of security staff.
12. Responds promptly and professionally to radio calls.
13. Meets department uniform, appearance, and grooming requirements.
14. Complies with all OSHA safety regulations and local laws regarding health, safety, or environment.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of facilities experience with a focus on interior painting.
• Experience working in a healthcare environment is a plus but not required.
