Job summary

Sunbelt Solomon is seeking a dedicated Paint Technician to prepare and paint transformer units, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, quality standards, and company policies. Typical hours are Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a focus on following work orders, inspecting units, and maintaining paint quality.

  • Mechanical and transformer experience preferred.
  • OSHA10 certification preferred.
  • A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders.
  • Meet department and production goals set by supervisor.
  • Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
  • Possess strong work ethic and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Review checklist and follow work orders to ensure specifications.
  • Assess units prior to painting and check for defects; escalate as needed.
  • Mix paint and maintain viscosity per specs; replace paint as needed.
  • Ensure spray guns are functioning and produce correct spray patterns.
  • Clean units and apply primer and paint to meet quality standards.
  • Inspect finished units to ensure quality and proceed to final assembly.
  • Wear PPE and follow all safety protocols; maintain a clean workstation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Paint Technician is responsible for preparing and painting transformer units. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards and company policies are essential functions of this role. The hours for this role are Monday-Thursday 6:00AM to 4:30PM.

  • Review checklist and follow work order instructions to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Assess units prior to painting and check for issues (defects, leaks, etc.), elevate defect issues to lead or supervisor if discovered.
  • Mix paint and ensure the viscosity is consistent with specifications.
  • As needed replace paint in pots/drums.
  • Ensure paint guns are all in working order and spray pattern consistency is correct prior to painting the equipment.
  • Cl ean unit off accordingly by air or tack cloth.
  • Apply primer and paint as required to comply with quality expectations.
  • After primer and paint is complete look over unit to ensure quality expectations are met.
  • If unit is dissembled spray unit parts as required.
  • Once unit is complete move to final assembly.
  • Following all safety protocols which includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), respirator, glove, safety glasses, etc.
  • Maintain safe, clean and orderly workstation and area.
  • Other duties assigned.
Requirements

  • Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization. Notify management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.

  • Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail and can work in a team environment.

  • Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Physical requirements for this role include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Lift 50lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times
    • Standing and walking for long durations
    • Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations
    • The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times
    • Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods of time
    • Comfortable working in the heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled
