Position Summary

Work Environment

Daktronics operates paint booths located near their product responsibility areas. The booths are equipped with Kremlin paint and primer systems, with Kremlin guns classified as air mix. Painters share a kitchen area where all paint components are stored. Employees are required to perform preparation, mixing, and application duties, passing pulmonary function tests to monitor health and qualify for respirator use. Respiratory protection includes fresh air positive pressure hoods. A clothing change area is provided to prevent taking contaminated clothing home. Uniforms are cleaned by a local service, and paint shoes are covered under the safety shoe reimbursement policy.

Position Details

This position is in the Sioux Falls Manufacturing department, working Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It offers skill increments and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities
  1. Take instruction from the paint department leadership, report on accomplishments and constraints, and communicate goals with co-workers.
  2. Perform work in the desired order through communication with department leaders.
  3. Identify and produce quality work as required.
  4. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  5. Wear all required PPE and follow safety procedures.
  6. Clean and maintain spray equipment as necessary.
  7. Seek continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and knowledge.
  8. Attend necessary training to keep safety and skills current.
  9. Work scheduled hours reliably, with overtime as needed, and assist in other departments if required.
  10. Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  11. Wear proper protective equipment per safety policies and OSHA standards, including safety glasses, shoes, hearing protection, and electrostatic discharge wear.
  12. Be willing and able to work in other production areas based on business needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Training in painting, such as auto body, preferred.
  • Experience with paint application and mixing preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Quick learner with good communication skills, fluent in English.
  • Must pass an annual Pulmonary Function Test.
  • Physical requirements include working around solder, paint, solvents; distinguishing colors; reading fine print; lifting up to 50 lbs.; standing or sitting for full shifts.
  • Applicants must be 18 or older.
