Job description

Are you skilled at working with paint, wallpaper, and vinyl coverings? If so, join us at the Department of General Services in our Maintenance Services Section as a Painter. This position offers the opportunity to utilize your specialized skills within the Capitol Complex, Annex Complex, and outlying facilities. Job Responsibilities
  1. Complete a full range of journeyman-level duties involving the application of paint, wallpaper, or vinyl coverings to various surfaces including walls, partitions, and office furniture across the Capitol Complex.
  2. Estimate material requirements and supplies, maintain records of special mixes, and select proper tools and equipment while adhering to safety measures.
  3. Work independently to accomplish tasks and seek guidance from supervisors on unusual situations.
  4. Perform snow and ice removal from entrances, walkways, and steps using rock salt, sand, or deicing agents, and operate spreaders and snow blowers.

Work Schedule and Compensation
  • Full-time employment with essential status requiring reporting during emergencies and office closures.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework is not available for this position.
  • Salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training:

  • Completion of the Building Trades Trainee program, or
  • Three years of experience in the painting trade, or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a motor vehicle license.

  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
