What you’ll do:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for painting full-sized vehicles with minimal defects
  • Perform preventive maintenance on paint equipment
  • Identify and repair paint defects according to appearance specifications
  • Verify cleaning chemical concentrations
  • Pre-treat and prepare cabs and parts for paint
  • Spray base coat and clear coat
  • Mix tints following formulas to match paint codes
  • Maintain accurate documentation of paint codes
  • Coordinate material movement within the paint area
  • Load and unload parts on racking or carts as per process documentation
  • Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete duties in the assigned area
  • Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etc.
  • Self-check work and inspect prior processes
  • Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools as required
  • Meet production goals
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Initiate process improvements
  • Support 5S in the work area
  • Communicate with manufacturing and cross-functional teams to resolve issues
  • Solve complex problems with minimal assistance
  • Know various customer vehicles and trucks
  • Ability to mask multiple color units & train FAP Paint
  • Perform undercoating, paint touch-up, wheel alignment
What you need to be successful:

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED required; automotive paint certification or vocational school certificate preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years automotive paint experience
  • Excellent attendance and positive attitude
  • Strong attention to detail and self-motivated
  • Team-oriented with basic computer skills
  • No critical shortcomings on last performance review
  • Understanding of paint materials and cleaning chemicals; vocational training preferred
Abilities:
  • Tolerate high heat, dust, and chemicals
  • Work overtime on short notice
  • Wear PPE respirators for extended periods
  • Improve self/area/company, pursue additional training if needed
  • Develop knowledge of company systems (e.g., AS/400)
