Job summary

Chart Industries is seeking an entry-level to experienced Industrial Painter to prepare, coat, and finish components in our Nevada manufacturing facility. You will work in a paint booth, mix two-part epoxy primers, apply polyurethane topcoats, and ensure coatings meet thickness and curing specifications.

Ideal candidates have prior shop or manufacturing painting experience, familiarity with HVLP spray equipment, and the ability to lift and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial painting or manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with applying two-part epoxy and polyurethane coatings.
  • Knowledge of HVLP spray systems and coating thickness considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare units for coating, including surface prep, cleaning, masking, and inspection.
  • Operate painting booth equipment and HVLP spray systems to apply primers and topcoats.
  • Mix two-part coatings and ensure correct ratios and technique.
  • Monitor coating thickness, finish quality, and cure requirements.
  • Perform touch-ups and rework to deliver defect-free products.
  • Maintain paint booth equipment and work area for safety and efficiency.
  • Follow work instructions and quality procedures; adhere to PPE and safety policies.
  • Participate in department safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

What Will You Do?
  • Prepare units for coating by performing surface prep, including cleaning, masking, and final inspection prior to paint application
  • Perform painting operations within a paint booth using an HVLP pressure pot system
  • Apply epoxy primer and polyurethane topcoat in accordance with specifications and work instructions
  • Mix and handle two-part coatings, primarily Amercoat 450H, ensuring proper ratios and application techniques
  • Monitor coating thickness, finish quality, and cure requirements to meet quality standards
  • Perform touch-ups and rework as needed to ensure a finished, defect-free product
  • Maintain paint booth equipment, spray systems, and work area to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Adhere to printed work instruction manuals and all quality procedures
  • Observe and practice safety procedures and policies, including proper use of PPE when handling coatings and solvents
  • Participate in department safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…
  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling
  • Frequent heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, and material handling
  • Ability to work in a paint booth environment with proper protective equipment
  • The ability to work overtime and some Saturdays as needed

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
  • Previous industrial painting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience applying two-part epoxy and polyurethane coatings
  • Familiarity with HVLP pressure pot spray systems strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in a shop, manufacturing, or fabrication environment
