Job summary

Chart, Inc. in Reno, NV is seeking an experienced industrial painter to prep, coat, and finish components in our manufacturing environment. You will operate a paint booth, apply two-part epoxy and polyurethane coatings, and ensure thickness and cure quality.

Join a team that values safety, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement. Prior HVLP spray system experience and the ability to lift and work overtime on Saturdays are a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience applying two-part epoxy and polyurethane coatings.
  • Familiarity with HVLP spray systems strongly preferred.
  • Previous industrial painting in manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare units for coating by surface prep, cleaning, masking, and final inspection.
  • Perform painting operations within a paint booth using HVLP spray systems.
  • Apply epoxy primer and polyurethane topcoat per specifications.
  • Mix two-part coatings, ensuring proper ratios and techniques.
  • Monitor coating thickness, finish quality, and cure requirements.
  • Perform touch-ups and rework to ensure defect-free products.
  • Maintain paint booth equipment, spray systems, and work area.
  • Adhere to work instructions and quality procedures.
  • Observe safety procedures and use PPE when handling coatings.
  • Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

What Will You Do?
  • Prepare units for coating by performing surface prep, including cleaning, masking, and final inspection prior to paint application

  • Apply epoxy primer and polyurethane topcoat in accordance with specifications and work instructions
  • Mix and handle two-part coatings, primarily Amercoat 450H, ensuring proper ratios and application techniques
  • Monitor coating thickness, finish quality, and cure requirements to meet quality standards
  • Perform touch-ups and rework as needed to ensure a finished, defect-free product
  • Maintain paint booth equipment, spray systems, and work area to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Adhere to printed work instruction manuals and all quality procedures
  • Observe and practice safety procedures and policies, including proper use of PPE when handling coatings and solvents
  • Participate in department safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…
  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling
  • Frequent heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, and material handling
  • Ability to work in a paint booth environment with proper protective equipment
  • The ability to work overtime and some Saturdays as needed
Your Education Should Be…
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
  • Previous industrial painting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience applying two-part epoxy and polyurethane coatings
  • Familiarity with HVLP pressure pot spray systems strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in a shop, manufacturing, or fabrication environment
