Job summary

Deist Industries, LLC, a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corporation, is seeking a production worker in Northwestern Pennsylvania. You will prepare painting equipment, apply paint to specification, inspect products, and maintain a clean, safe work area while recording data sheets.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, forklift license, and relevant safety certifications. You will operate in a manufacturing setting with emphasis on quality and PPE adherence.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 months related experience or training.
  • Ability to read and follow simple instructions and data sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Uses PPE and paints product to specification.
  • Prepares painting equipment and checks paint parameters.
  • Maintains clean work area and performs routine maintenance on tools.
  • Inspects prepped product for cleanliness and conformance.
  • Records data sheets with pertinent information.
  • Secures area and unloads paint shipments as needed.
  • Wipes product prior to painting to remove oil/dirt.
  • Performs visual inspection and checks paint thickness.
  • Stops work to resolve substandard issues with support as needed.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Uses the prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Performs to the best of their ability and maintain the highest quality standards possible
  • Keeps a positive attitude towards the job and the company
  • Continually increase knowledge and techniques through internal & external support
  • Reviews work order to assure product match and paint requirements are understood.
  • Inspects prepped product for cleanliness, damage or other non-conformance.
  • STOP as soon as a “substandard issue” occurs to RESOLVE the issue myself or get support in resolving the issue.
  • Wipes the product prior to painting to remove oil and dirt.
  • Prepares painting equipment and assures paint parameters are within specification.
  • Records all pertinent information on data sheets.
  • Paints product to specified requirements.
  • Performs a visual inspection and conducts a wet mil check for proper paint thickness.
  • Maintains a clean working area.
  • Maintains equipment by cleaning paint guns, lubricating paint pump, changing paint filters and conducting other preventive maintenance as required.
  • Receives paint shipments by checking bills of lading to verify acceptable shipment, unloading paint, checking shipment for damages and recording any discrepancies.
  • Secures paint area at the end of the shift by locking paint shop doors and turning off compressor and air valve then bleeding water off air tank.

Education And/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
