Job Description

Job Title: Paint Technician 2

FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Reports To: Supervisor, Manufacturing (Paint)

Summary

The position involves machine setup, adjustments, and maintenance. The Paint Technician must follow safety practices to ensure a safe working environment and ensure all machines and equipment function properly. Interfaces with various departments to ensure timely and cost-effective production.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist in supervising and managing shift operations and training staff.
• Act as supervisor in the absence of the supervisor.
• Coordinate workflow across the department.
• Adjust, perform preventive maintenance, and monitor machines to ensure product quality.
• Collaborate with other shifts on product and process issues.
• Provide technical expertise to ensure quality, productivity, and inspection standards.
• Participate in company programs and comply with all safety and company rules.
• Set up, troubleshoot, and adjust paint and secondary equipment.
• Complete reports and process verifications to meet design and customer specifications.
• Perform machine setup and troubleshooting using various tools.
• Chart color and gloss readings, repair paint guns and racks.
• Maintain environmental health and safety standards and good housekeeping.
• Perform other duties as required, ensuring communication of process changes and training.
• Complete Paint Tech Level 1 training within 7 days, Level 2 within 90 days, and Level 3 within 180 days of starting.

Education and Experience

One year of work-related experience and successful completion of related training courses or willingness to enroll in upcoming classes. Must meet the company’s requirements as outlined in the handbook.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to analyze information and make decisions with limited options. Must score at least 50 on the Wonderlic assessment (or 16 on the cognitive portion).

This position typically does not require travel.
