Job summary

General Motors LLC in Arlington, TX is seeking a Paint Process Engineer to audit and validate painting processes for GM’s full-sized SUVs. You will work with paint robots, circulation systems, air handlers and ovens, supervising a small team of technicians and driving improvements across the painting and baking steps.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent, 3+ years in automotive manufacturing, and the ability to rotate through 1st-3rd shifts; relocation benefits are

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing (robotic or paint processes).
  • Ability and willingness to work / rotate through all 3 shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd).
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed.
  • Experience commissioning and/or operating manufacturing equipment and systems.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrate high level of analytical ability and problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain SFMEA, PFMEA and Control Plans.
  • Analyze, develop, process, and implement Engineering Changes.
  • Utilize DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why methodologies.
  • Resolve high level performance issues into addressable actions.
  • Apply Statistical Process Control and its applications.
  • Mentor and evaluate employees; develop talent.
  • Project Management across process improvements.
  • Troubleshoot process improvement needs and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with plant teams on paint process development.
