Job summary

R. H. Sheppard Co. in Hanover, PA is seeking operators on a full-time night shift to assemble and finish steering gear components. You will install pitman arms, mask and paint gears, and operate on the paint line with attention to quality checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
• One year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in shipping/receiving in a production/manufacturing environment.
• Completion of forklift certification.
• Problem solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles.
• Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Cover/Cover Installer: Install seals in steering gears by applying grease and hanging arms for painting.
• Loader/Unloader: Move gears/arms, scan bar codes into AS400, label, and route for prep.
• Masker/Painter: Mask areas not to be painted, apply dirt shields, keep paint booth checklists.
• Unmasker: Remove masking after powder coating without disturbing coating; clean paint room daily.
• Prepper: Prep models per AS400 instructions, apply components as specified.
• Skidder: Barcode items, pre-load conveyor with packaging, box gears daily.
• Pre-Torque: Verify timing, install retainers, assist in unloading painted arms.
• Pitman Arm Installer: Install arms, record torque data, read depth gauges, calibrate tools.
• Carpenter: Build skis for shipment and create specialty skids.
• Other duties as assigned.
