Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Paint Line Team Leader in Buffalo Grove, IL to lead assembly and machine operations on the line, driving safety, quality, and on-time production for a busy manufacturing cell.

The ideal candidate holds an associate degree or equivalent, forklift certification, 2–5 years in manufacturing or team leadership, and experience with ERP, Kanban, and production schedules. Strong leadership, Lean/5S, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, BOMs, and production documentation.
• Forklift certification/license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team responsible for assembly operations and machine operation while meeting production, quality, and customer demand requirements.
• Develop, release, and monitor daily production schedules to ensure on-time completion of customer orders.
• Conduct daily stand-up meetings covering safety, quality, productivity, TPM, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Train employees on job procedures, PPE requirements, safety standards, and manufacturing best practices.
• Maintain a safe, organized work environment through strong housekeeping and 5S practices.
• Monitor production performance, manage Kanban systems, and establish priorities based on start dates, due dates, and shipment schedules.
• Recommend and implement improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
• Analyze production issues, assist team members in resolving problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, customer service, and leadership teams to achieve production goals, labor targets, and quality standards.
