Job summary

Broadlawns Medical Center is seeking a certified Medical Assistant for its Pain Management Center. This full-time role supports patient care across ages in a clinic setting, performs lab duties, and assists with exams and procedures under supervision.

The position requires CMA certification within 6 months of hire, pharmacology readiness, and BLS (HCP) certification. Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, in a busy outpatient clinic.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of medical assistant education with a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program and certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to satisfactorily complete Broadlawns Pharmacology requirements prior to providing care independently.
• Ability to successfully pass Basic Life Support Certification (Health Care Provider) prior to providing care independently.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms for medical provider visits.
• Obtains subjective data (chief complaint, allergies) and objective data (vital signs, weight).
• Communicates patient information to providers and care team.
• Anticipates and prepares exam rooms and assists with exams and procedures.
• Provides patient education and explains lab/diagnostic tests with relevant handouts.
• Administers medications or treatments as ordered and ensures patient safety.
• Performs venipuncture, specimen collection, and lab testing with proper documentation.
• Maintains charts and lab/test logs in the chart.
• Supports telephone, charting, scheduling, and other clinic tasks to keep operations smooth.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment and participates in equipment and supply upkeep.
