Job summary

Evergy is offering an Summer 2027 internship in Kansas City, MO, within Wireless Engineering and Operations. The intern will engage in hands-on configuration, commissioning and testing of microwave radio and Private LTE devices, while supporting LMR equipment, alarm monitoring, and field deployments. Expected schedule is Mon-Fri, 8:00 a.m.

– 5:00 p.m., with safety and learning as core priorities. Candidates must be enrolled in IT Networking/Telecom or related programs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Participate in the configuration, commissioning and alignment of Nokia 6 GHz and 11 GHz MPR microwave radio equipment.
• Assist with provisioning, installation and testing of Private LTE devices and network equipment.
• Support configuration and testing of Land Mobile Radio equipment and inventory management.
• Contribute to deployment and monitoring of SNMP-based alarm system and device performance.
• Collaborate with engineering and field operations on wireless projects and field testing.
• Develop practical experience in wireless communications and network documentation.
