University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and Penn LDI invite rising undergraduates to SUMR 2027, a 12-week, full-time, paid summer mentored research program in health services research. The cohort works on Penn faculty projects, attends seminars, and prepares for graduate study in health economics, policy, and epidemiology.

SUMR 2027 runs June 1–August 20, 2027, with orientation, a conference presentation, GRE prep, and exposure to graduate pathways and research careers.

Qualifications

• Program participants should have an interest in health care and strong quantitative skills.
• A committee of Penn faculty selects each year's SUMR scholars from the highly competitive applicant pool.

Responsibilities

• Work on paid research projects with Penn faculty mentors.
• Hear about graduate school opportunities.
• Participate in 6-month online GRE prep program.
• Attend week-long orientation and 30 seminars with Penn faculty.
• Attend an academic conference.
• Participate in a 8-week critical writing programme.
• Present research at End of SUMR Symposium.
