Job summary

Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company is seeking an undergraduate intern in Minnesota, South Dakota, or North Dakota for the 2027 Summer Internship Program. The paid role runs May 17–August 6, up to 40 hours/week, with potential to transition to full-time later.

Responsibilities include supporting Territory Sales Managers, understanding MPCI vs Private Products, and observing claims and adjustments. Travel and home-office shadowing are part of the program.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Basic knowledge of agriculture, farming practices, or crop production preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop customer relationships by observing interactions between Territory Sales Managers, agents, customers and peers.
• Understand MPCI vs Private Products within crop insurance and relate to customers.
• Observe and assist with Multi-Peril and Private Product claims and adjusting process.
• Gain background on how FMH is run and its role in the industry.
• Learn agricultural practices and crops across regions assigned nationwide.
• Explain loss procedures for major crops insured; learn Precision Technology applications.
• Job shadows at FMH Home Office in West Des Moines, IA to observe business cycles.
• Deliver a Capstone presentation to summarize internship learnings.
