Job summary

Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company is offering a 2027 Summer Internship in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, or Kentucky. This paid internship runs May 17 to August 6, up to 40 hours per week, with potential to turn into a full-time position.

You'll gain hands-on experience in crop insurance, work with Territory Sales Managers, and learn about MPCI vs Private Products while observing claims and the business cycle at FMH.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior, or senior majoring in Agriculture (May 2027 graduates not eligible).
• Strong organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills required.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop customer relationships by observing interactions between Territory Sales Managers, Agents, customers, and peers.
• Understand differences between Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) and Private Products.
• Observe and assist with MPCI and Private Product claims and adjusting process.
• Gain background knowledge on FMH's operations and industry role.
• Learn agricultural practices and crops across regions of the country.
• Explain loss procedures for major crops insured.
• Familiarize with Precision Technology applied to producers.
• Job shadows at the Home Office in West Des Moines, IA to observe business culture.
• Develop project presentation skills for Capstone presentation.
