Job summary

BMW of North America is offering a Spring 2027 Internship in Interaction Design in Santa Monica, CA. The program runs January 11, 2027 to July 16, 2027, with four in-office days and one remote day.

Undergraduate students will be paid $25.30 per hour and graduate students $32.20 per hour, determined by academic level and state/local disclosures. This hybrid internship invites applicants studying Graphic Design, Interaction Design, UX, or HCI, with strong portfolios and familiarity with modern

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at an accredited college or university.
• US Work Authorization required.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (overall, not just major).
• Completed at least 60 college credit hours at the time of application.
• Ability to work full-time (20 - 29 hours/week).
• Must submit an unofficial college transcript with your application.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Interaction Design team and contribute as a content-creating project team member for BMW Brands, internal initiatives, and external clients.
• Work on projects spanning multiple industries, including automotive, consumer products, capital equipment, and public transportation/infrastructure.
• Participate in investigations involving traditional digital methods (desktop, app, screen) as well as new interaction methods (AR, VR, haptics, gesture, phygital).
• Support the team with contextual research for various client projects.
• Assist in creating design proposals for diverse client projects.
• Contribute to research and development of new tools and technologies within the Interaction Design team.
• Support the LA studio with internal initiatives across different departments.
