The Paid Search Supervisor will lead the strategy, execution, optimization, and day-to-day client management of paid search programs for high-profile clients across healthcare, financial services, and consumer products. This role requires the ability to translate broader business and marketing objectives into sophisticated paid search strategies that deliver measurable results across different audiences, markets, products, and stages of the customer journey.
The role will address a diverse set of business needs—from connecting patients with relevant healthcare services and driving consideration of financial products to capturing consumer demand and supporting product sales. The Paid Search Supervisor will also oversee YouTube campaigns as part of select clients' broader media programs.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on paid search leader who can independently manage client relationships, guide junior team members, identify opportunities before being asked, and translate complex performance data into clear recommendations.
Responsibilities
Strategy and Client Leadership
- Lead the development of paid search strategies aligned with each client's business objectives, audience needs, market priorities, customer journey, and measurement framework.
- Translate business needs into actionable campaign structures, keyword and query strategies, targeting approaches, budget allocations, and optimization plans.
- Develop strategies that account for the distinct considerations of regulated and consumer-focused categories, including geographic availability, seasonality, privacy, compliance requirements, and variations in consumer intent.
- Serve as a day-to-day paid search lead for clients, clearly communicating strategies, performance, challenges, and recommended actions.
- Bring forward proactive recommendations that improve performance and address emerging client, category, or market needs.
- Partner with media planning, analytics, and other channel teams to ensure paid search and YouTube strategies support the broader media mix, promotional calendar, and customer journey.
- Contribute paid search expertise to annual planning, client presentations, and new-business initiatives as needed.
Campaign Management and Optimization
- Oversee the end-to-end execution of paid search campaigns, including account structure, keyword and query strategy, ad copy, audience signals, bid strategies, budget management, testing, and optimization.
- Guide the strategic use of campaign types and platform capabilities such as Performance Max, automated bidding, dynamic creative, location-based targeting, and emerging AI-driven search features.
- Oversee YouTube campaign planning and activation for select clients, including audience strategy, campaign structure, creative testing, and optimization, in partnership with the broader media team.
- Develop market- and location-specific strategies that reflect differences in service availability, consumer demand, competitive intensity, and business priorities.
- Monitor and optimize campaigns toward defined business and media outcomes, including conversions, qualified leads, appointments, product consideration, sales, site engagement, and cost efficiency.
- Maintain strong account hygiene and ensure campaigns follow established trafficking, tracking, QA, brand-safety, privacy, and measurement standards.
- Identify performance issues, diagnose their underlying causes, and recommend clear solutions.
Measurement and Insights
- Partner with Analytics and other agency teams to establish campaign KPIs, reporting requirements, conversion signals, and testing plans.
- Translate campaign results into clear insights that explain what happened, why it happened, and what should change as a result.
- Use performance data, search behavior, competitive activity, audience research, and category trends to inform future strategies, creative recommendations, and budget allocation.
- Evaluate performance beyond platform-reported metrics, connecting paid search activity to broader business outcomes whenever measurement capabilities allow.
- Identify opportunities to improve conversion tracking, signal quality, testing approaches, and the overall understanding of paid search's business impact.
- Provide day-to-day guidance, quality control, and mentorship to junior team members as needed
- Review campaign builds, optimizations, reporting, and client-facing deliverables from junior team members before they are shared.
- Help team members strengthen their platform expertise, analytical thinking, client communication, and strategic capabilities.
- Raise workload, performance, or delivery risks early and work with department leadership to resolve them.
Budget and Platform Management
- Maintain accountability for campaign budgets, pacing, forecasts, and reconciliations, ensuring campaigns deliver accurately and within approved parameters.
- Develop budget and flighting recommendations based on business priorities, seasonality, demand, historical performance, and market opportunity.
- Maintain productive relationships with platform partners, including Google and Microsoft, and assess betas, new capabilities, and emerging opportunities based on their relevance to client needs.
- Stay current on changes across paid search, YouTube, AI-powered search experiences, privacy, measurement, and the broader performance media landscape.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands-on paid search experience, preferably within an agency environment.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing paid search strategy, execution, optimization, and client communication.
- Experience guiding or supervising junior team members, including delegating work, reviewing deliverables, and providing constructive feedback.
- Advanced experience with Google Ads and working knowledge of Microsoft Advertising.
- Experience with YouTube campaign strategy and activation is preferred.
- Strong understanding of campaign structure, keyword and query strategy, automated bidding, Performance Max, audience targeting, conversion tracking, testing, and optimization.
- Experience managing geographically complex, multi-market, multi-location, or multi-product campaigns.
- Experience in healthcare, financial services, consumer products, or another regulated or performance-focused category is preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn complex performance data into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate confidently with clients and senior internal leadership.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and lookup functions.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, troubleshoot issues, and meet deadlines.
- A collaborative, accountable, and solution-oriented approach—with the judgment to raise concerns early and bring forward potential answers.
