Job summary

Sokal is seeking a hands-on Paid Search Manager to lead a dedicated team across Google and Bing campaigns, driving innovation and business results. You will translate client objectives into actionable strategies, oversee budgets and performance, and mentor team members to elevate paid search capabilities.

Working closely with cross-functional partners, you will push for best practices, rigorous QA, and scalable processes, delivering measurable outcomes and client value in a fast-paced agency

Job description

Lead, manage, and guide the team of paid search in the coordination and delivery of innovative, well-targeted, business-building solutions across Google & Bing products and emerging channels to deliver on our dedication to client-obsessed results while helping to bring opportunities to life that drive revenue. This role serves as the hands-on expert and strategic owner of paid search, ensuring campaigns are executed efficiently, measured accurately, and continuously optimized to drive meaningful business outcomes. The Paid Search Manager partners closely with programmatic, paid social, data analytics, technology, and account teams to deliver integrated, data-driven solutions. You are naturally curious, analytical, and detail-oriented. You enjoy solving complex problems, digging into data, testing new ideas, and translating insights into clear recommendations for internal teams and clients.

In short, in close partnership with the Director, Digital Advertising, utilize technology and digital advertising solutions to delight clients, run more efficiently, solve challenges, and create magical experiences, while educating stakeholders along the way to further iterate, refine, and optimize our paid search offerings.

Paid Search Management, Strategy & Execution
  • Support and execute the Director of Digital Advertising’s defined paid search vision by owning the tactical planning, setup, execution, and optimization of campaigns across platforms.
  • Translate client objectives and Director defined strategies into actionable paid search tactics, targeting frameworks, and activation plans for the team.
  • Manage budgets, pacing, and performance to ensure efficiency and goal attainment
  • Ensure accurate trafficking, tagging, and QA of all paid search campaigns
  • Stay current on paid search trends, formats, targeting capabilities, and platform updates
  • In coordination with the Director, lead the paid search team in excellence to maintain a best-in-class product
  • Mentor and support team members, helping them grow their paid search skill sets
  • Contribute to documentation, best practices, and standardization across paid search workflows
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and scalability
Team Support & Process Improvement

Collaboration & Relationship Management
  • Partner with account teams to provide paid search expertise and client support
  • Collaborate with programmatic, paid social, and data analytics teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Communicate performance insights, optimizations, and recommendations clearly and confidently
  • Maintain strong relationships with platform partners, vendors, and technology providers
  • Support new business efforts by contributing paid search insights, planning, and recommendations
Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of paid search buying, optimization levers, and performance drivers. Strong leadership skills.
  • Comfortable working with data, identifying patterns, and turning analysis into action.
  • Enjoys working hard; is action-oriented and full of energy for the things they see as challenging; not fearful of acting with a minimum of planning; seizes more opportunities than others.

  • Works effectively across teams and communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Hands-on experience with paid search platforms (e.g., Google Ads)
  • Strong understanding of ad serving, targeting, bidding strategies, and optimization techniques
  • Understanding of digital media metrics and performance KPIs
  • Understanding of analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Google Analytics, TapClicks)
  • Enthusiasm for keeping up to date on current topics in the field to inspire and inform client work and organizational culture
  • Self-motivated and willing to expand knowledge
  • Ability to self-manage while managing assigned team and projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively multitask in a deadline-driven atmosphere.

  • Agency or related industry experience with a proven track record of working with paid search advertising
  • Strong technical experience, knowledgeable in digital advertising, with at least 4 years of experience in an advertising agency, with previous automotive experience
  • Experience & Education: 2-year technical degree with 6+ years of experience in a digital agency
  • Preferred Experience: 4-year degree with 4+ years of experience in a digital agency
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equal years of experience to demonstrate the necessary competencies required for the position
  • Strong analytical skills with extreme attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with a keen ability to effectively and professionally communicate ideas to coworkers, other departments, and/or clients
  • Ability to work on and manage projects from beginning to end, potentially demonstrating ahead of project deadlines
  • Ability to understand and utilize software and platforms
  • Flexibility to perform in a fluid environment with day-to-day or even hourly changes in priorities
  • Proactive nature to think ahead of potential concerns for team or plan ahead for future updates and changes to technology and advertising strategies
  • Must be a team player in all avenues with ability to delegate work to team members or assist as needed
