Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM invites motivated undergraduates to apply for a paid internship in the Occupational Safety & Health Division. The student will assist safety professionals with evaluations, data collection, documentation, field observations, and other activities to identify and reduce workplace hazards.

Participants learn industrial hygiene concepts and LANL requirements, while developing professional skills.

Qualifications

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience working effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Basic knowledge of required safety practices in a laboratory environment.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations and requirements.
• Ability to research information sources for health effects data.
• Ability to use automation applications (e.g., spreadsheets, databases).
• Basic experience utilizing equipment and tools.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist OSH staff with safety evaluations and data collection.
• Support documentation and field observations related to health and safety hazards.
• Learn and apply LANL safety programs and regulations.

Education

Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree-granting program

GPA 3.0 or higher
