Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks an Industrial Hygiene and Safety professional for complex construction safety programs. The role spans IH&S program development, hazard identification, and data-driven risk mitigation in a remote-minded, mission-focused environment at LANL.

Position levels 3 or 4 depending on experience; higher level includes independent program development, mentoring, and expert reporting responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of DOE and/or regulatory requirements related to industrial hygiene and safety in a construction environment.
• Advanced knowledge of OSHA 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction and OSHA 1910 General Industry.
• Advanced knowledge of and experience implementing industrial hygiene and safety-related risk assessments and corrective actions.
• Advanced knowledge and application of techniques and procedures for industrial hygiene exposure assessment (qualitative and quantitative).
• Advanced communication of safety/ IH information to technical and non-technical personnel.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate work activities and recommend safety/ health protective equipment and risk mitigation or abatement controls.
• Review plans and specifications for construction projects to identify hazard controls.
• Assist with development/review of IWDs and operating procedures to ensure hazards are identified and controlled.
• Conduct industrial hygiene and safety field measurements as part of an Exposure Assessment Program.
• Participate in abnormal event response as an IH&S SME.
