Job summary

Textron Lycoming Engines is seeking an Intern - Materials Engineer in Williamsport, PA. The role involves hands-on testing, evaluation of heat-treated parts, and participation in failure analysis projects.

The student should be pursuing a B.S. in Materials Science/Engineering or Metallurgy and be familiar with metallurgical lab procedures, Word/Excel/PowerPoint, and standard lab practices. This 10-week internship provides mentorship and real project work.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a B.S. in Materials Science/Engineering or Metallurgy
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Familiarity with metallurgical lab procedures

Responsibilities

• Performing mechanical properties testing
• Evaluation of in-house heat-treated parts
• Assisting with failure analysis projects
• Checking incoming parts for metallurgical conformance
• Evaluating microstructures of steel, aluminum, and other materials
• Assisting in monitoring of plating and cleaning solutions (wet chemistry)
• Documenting test and evaluation results
• Communicating with engineers, mentor, and internal customers in regard to materials investigations
