Job summary

TxDOT’s year-round internship program offers paid internships that allow you to strengthen HR skills and build your resume while pursuing education. As a Human Resources Intern in Beaumont, you will support HR Generalists, assist with data entry, recruiting tasks, onboarding, and event preparation, gaining real-world experience across districts.

The role is entry-level, onsite, with flexible scheduling and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Must be a student in high school or college or accepted into a college/university.
• Must be at least 16 years of age; student status required.
• Employees at 18+ with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties.

Responsibilities

• Assists in maintaining confidential information and records.
• Primarily supports the HR Generalists teams.
• Maintains files, records, and logs.
• Enters data into various Human Resources systems.
• Assists with recruiting, pre-employment/due diligence tasks and onboarding/offboarding.
• Conducts data audits/updates—Education, Driver's License, Safety Impact, Professional Engineer, Emergency Contact and other systems information.
• Assists in event preparation, including New Employee Orientation, Recruiting, Wellness and other district events.
• Gains exposure to HR-related issues (observing conversations & presentations; assisting with other tasks as needed).
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
